El Shantanu Bansal Gentry Lee seriously messed up the Rama series. Would Sir Clarke's approach of a utopian society targeted towards space exploration suited the rest of the series or did you guys enjoyed as they were written.

L'Aleyn-David Kewley "Even in this metric age, it was still the thousand-foot telescope, not the three-hundred-metre one." (The literary way to begin 2010, if not the visual one - Blein Vie Noa, Bonne Annee and Happy New Year to all!)

L'Ulf Claesson
One of the greatest, if not THE greatest science fiction/science fact-writers ever! He was one of the first writers I came across, discovering the genre in the late 1960s, alongside Bradbury, Simak and Asimov. Clarke's magnum opus, Childhood's End, remain just as stirring today as it must have been when it first came o...ut, and should be required reading by anyone even remotely interested in the universe, out future and the relationship between the two.
And then there is 2001, especially the film...ah, 2001! The closest to a true religious experience I've ever come across. Though perhaps due more to the visionary powers of Stanley Kubrick, Clarke's part in the films success and marvelous energy cannot be denied. Without him, Kubrick might have gone off on a less successful direction.
Clarke have few equels, though briton Stephen Baxter must be mentioned. He, too, is a cosmic thinker of enormous visionary powers and acknowledge the inspiration of the late Arthur C Clarke.

2001 -> "I'm sure you are aware of the extremely grave potential for social shock and disorientation caused by this information. We can't release it without proper conditioning." - Heywood Floyd ->
