Hi Johann, in the book, there is a man named Roger who is homosexual and, at the masked party, he follows the owner of the hotel - Horace Derwent - everywhere and does whatever Derwent asks. Derwent asks him to dress as a dog and follow him around all night, which he does. It is suggested that there could be something sexual between them.
Kubrick added this part as a tribute to the book. The man in the dog-suit is Roger and the man he is giving a blowjob to is Horace Derwent. There isn't any real meaning to it.

blood in the elevator...In any other scary movies, this scene would be cheezy...but in Shining...brrrr...

You are welcome Johann! I've been a big fan of The Shining for a long time, maybe I know too much about it! I really do recommend the book, even though it is much different from the film! Take care!

Way too many masterful lines and scenes. A low key but funny scene is when Scatman Crothers if lying in his bed with his big feet and gets the Shining call for help from Danny. He's got two gigantic posters of topless women with afros right behind him. Hysterical.

Also, the speed with which Wendy's cigarette ash grows when the shrink is interviewing her.

Best movie ever.
