An important question is: “why not try to make google more social?”
For example a pubblic igoogle where i can share my video, my maps, my calendar, my knols, my sites, my feed, my notes, my favorite site, my picasa web album, my status, my documents, my blogs, my projects(sketchup, source code)... etcetera etcetera whit my friends or also with all the world. What i want is to integrate google's service in one page and decide what service share whit my friends (or group of friends) and what with all the world. In particular to share the service with the world a solution could be to integrate in google's search engine the option “people”. Also the research can became more pertinent if we can integrate the results of the personal researches of my friends with the normal results that are in any case more importants. The reason of this idea is because is more probable that a group of friends have the same interests. (reuslts Like: your friends suggest: - and than two or threel results-).
Another proposal is to integrate the index of books search in knoll; this could be interesting for doing a references (like a biography) and also for suggest to the reader some books related on the argument of the knoll.

This isn't a bad idea and i really appreciate what you are saying as the facebook fan page admin...

i would like you to take a look at http://labs.google.com/ which has similar features of what you expect and some services like sharing calender, etc are already available with existing Google products..

Just keep exploring.. Google is up to date with most of the technologies..

Hello Google, or may I say just G?

I think Leonardo is missing a typical GUI known from other social networks. More profile pics to make it more "social" ;) I agree with Leonardo that Google is not that social (like facebook for example). I know that you're trying to make it more social with friendconnect and so on but it's not that easy to make an API and force all networks to join the API - without any doubt: that would be the best solution for google.

I hope there will be a standard protocoll for all the social networks to make the life for the users more easy.

I think it is a nice one.. One change I would like to suggest is open it for maybe a select set of people (from my contacts). More like 'My very Own Google WALL''

I would like to show the world the gadgets I like and use. If someone thinks it is interesting they will mark my page and visit often to see whats more.
Everyone cannot have every gadget on their home.

For me, one of the main factors that make me a fan of Google as a search engine primarily is the simple and at the same time very efficient interface. For users like me who work on a slow network connection, Google pages are the most satisfying and thorough at the same time.
On the other hand ... I think, it is not necessary that Google should have that social networking as a feature that interacts with all Google features and applications. I see that the purchase of YouTube added to that "socialization" and at the same time kept the Google style of work. I think that Google may have future plans to buy one of the main social networks.
Still .. for me ... I like this Google with this level of socialization, I like to see Google to stay more practical network than to engage in a big social network business.
For social networking I use Facebook and am satisfied with that and "more than satisfied" with Google apps and services.

I do not believe, why google homepage is not html valid. Everywhere is speaking about validity websites. However it is my favourite website ;)

I realize that nothing anyone is saying on this forum is invocating anything specific other than google's superiority as a web presence. I can't disagree with that assertion. The differences between this opinion, however, and the one which supports the consolidation of every user-associated service the web has to offer into one, rich site still remain.

bottling all internet amenities which were developed and custom-tailored by other entities into a google-sized social network would truly be a disservice done onto the users of the internet. truly. the variety offered by the internet is great. let your dormant instinct of self-regulation spread its wings with each choice you make.

I think that is good idea the fact that u can have like an igoogle where to keep the searches like in groups caus many times ur looking for the same thing twice, even trice...so i think in that part is a good idea, but the idea to make a google a social net, i dont like it much, google is perfect in the way it is, and i prefer it like that caus now the big corporations are trying to uniform even the services, everybody can upload pics, friends, etc, all the net-life that isnt really as important as the real life, i want to see more like "google in action", for example, google movement, it is the page that people use the most for research about anything so maybe google should do events of researching, a congress about common interest, idk, something really good for people, i think that social net are useless are just for fun, and yes fun is important, but take action is the most important now.
